For more than 20 years, George has been an Entertainment Reporter for NY1 covering prominent NYC events ranging from the Tribeca Film Festival to the Met Gala. A staple on the Red Carpet, celebrities like Jimmy Fallon and Tommy Hilfiger look forward to seeing George and his trademark Websterian eyebrows (one of his 19th-century uncles was, in fact, Daniel Webster) on the runway. George Whipple was also a freelance lifestyle and fashion photographer whose work regularly appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar and Town and Country. Most recently, Wu-Tang Clan free-styled a rap about Whipple at the premiere of Of Mics and Men, the 2019 Showtime documentary. Mr. Whipple has also directed numerous television commercials; his advertising clients include American Express and General Foods.
In 2022, he won an Emmy Award along with his NY1 team for their coverage of On Stage Presents Broadway’s Revival. His photography has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, and Town and Country. George is a devoted philanthropist who dedicates significant time and resources to civic, environmental, and historic preservation movements in Putnam County, New York.
